Adonis Ecology is ISO 9001:2015 quality assured, meaning that we have a quality management system that is assessed each year to ensure we are constantly checking and improving our service.
The company is also a silver member of Constructionline. This means that Constructionline confirms we comply with industry and government standards, having checked our accreditations, insurances and financials as well as references. In addition, Adonis Ecology has SSIP (Safety Standards in Procurement) Acclaim accreditation, confirming that our systems comply with legal health and safety standards.
The business has been going for over 12 years, and incorporated in April 2007. The business was founded by the current Managing Director, Richard Sands MA (Oxon) MSc MIEEM CEnv, with the aim of turning biodiversity into an asset - so that clients can have sites that are both more financially valuable and better for wildlife.
Services include various ecological and protected species surveys and reports for planning applications and planning conditions, ecology for BREEAM reports, ecological mitigation design and implementation, and arboricultural services including tree surveys.
The office is based in Lavenham, Suffolk, with most of the work undertaken in East Anglia and the South East of England, although work is also undertaken in other parts of England and in Wales.
Our clients include many small and medium sized developers, architects and planning consultancies, as well as larger companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Galliford Try and Heineken. We also undertake work for public sector organisations including Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, Suffolk NHS Trust, Waverley Borough Council and Ipswich Borough Council.
Richard develops the assessment methods and client services, and keeps an overview on how each project is going. He has particular expertise in plant identification and invertebrate ecology. When he can get the time, Richard likes to garden with the aim of creating a space that is aesthetically pleasing and good for wildlife.
Provides clients with quotes for initial surveys and reports. She also keeps us organised and helps us comply with ISO 9001. Lynda spends a lot of her spare time caring for her horses, making sure they have what they need and clearing up after them – apparently good practice for organising ecologists!
Helps clients with tree surveys and the more tricky protected species issues, such as European Protected Species Site Licences, designated sites, EIA and mitigation design. He has particular expertise with bats, great crested newts and reptiles. Stewart spends much of his spare time renovating his house, but escapes to the countryside whenever possible.
Assists clients with ecology and protected species surveys and reports, such as for Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, bat surveys and great crested newt surveys.
